Walt Disney Pictures has released information and pre-orders on four different box sets for the 2010 Disney film, Tron: Legacy. The Blu-ray will feature a 1080p mixed aspect ratio 2.40:1 and IMAX 1.78:1 image (similar to The Dark Knight) with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. Tron Classic will have a 1080p 2.20:1 transfer with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 audio track.

Legacy is the sequel to the ground-breaking 1982 science-fiction film Tron, which featured some of the very first computer generated imagery in film. The 2010 sequel takes audiences back to the world of Tron, this time with just under 30 years of technology and artistry under its belt. The New York Posts’ Kyle Smith said Tron: Legacy is “an eyeball party. The score by Daft Punk, which veers from homages to Hans Zimmer’s thundery work in “The Dark Knight” to a retro-’80s synth sound, surpasses magnificence.” Tron: Legacy is also one of the rare true 7.1 theatrical surround sound audio tracks, and was also shot natively in 3D.
